Contributing financially to others who are seeking to meet the spiritual needs within the body of Christ often stirs up mixed feelings. Some are instantly ready to call people hirelings, faithless, and not true workers of God. Without a doubt, there has been much abuse of “Ministers” using Godliness as a means toward financial gain. Nevertheless, contributing to others serving the body is not unbiblical.

In Luke 8:2-3, we read that certain women supported Jesus ministry and from Phil. 4:15-18, Paul speaks about the help which he received from the Philippians on multiple occasions. Yet Paul did not receive support from everyone. He clearly told the Corinthians that he was refusing his right to receive support from them in 1Cor. 9:15. Why would Paul receive support from one place and not another? In 2Cor. 11:7-21 he explains that there were individuals in the region near Corinth which claimed to have the same ministry as Paul, but were abusing the people. So, Paul chose to make a distinction between these abusers and himself by receive funds from people in Macedonia (Philippi) in order to make his service to the saints in that area free of charge. In addition, Paul had much greater confidence in the spiritual state of the Philippians than he did of the Corinthians. For he says of the Philippians, “And I am sure of this, that he who began a good work in you will bring it to completion at the day of Jesus Christ .Therefore, my beloved, as you have always obeyed, so now, not only as in my presence but much more in my absence...” (Phil. 1:6, 2:12) yet, to the Corinthians he says, “For you are yet carnal: for where there is envying, strife, and divisions among you, are you not carnal, and walking as men .Examine yourselves, to see whether you are in the faith. Test yourselves. Or do you not realize this about yourselves, that Jesus Christ is in you?--unless indeed you fail to meet the test!” (1Cor. 3:3, 2Cor. 13:5). Undoubtedly, Paul's resistance toward receiving funds from the Corinthians and willingness to be helped by the Philippians was largely related to a desire to help the weak believers at Corinth see the greatness of the true Gospel of Jesus Christ (1Cor. 9).

Therefore, in the same spirit of Paul’s service toward the saints, www.biblesnet.com is seeking to help people freely taste and see the wonder of Jesus Christ and dowload completely FREE all biblical items on our web site.
